Eucharistic and Marian Youth Day 2025: Covadonga, Cradle of Faith, Hosts a Gathering to Rekindle Hearts
A beacon of hope for youth at the Shrine of La Santina, where the Eucharist and the Virgin Mary are the center of a new spiritual Reconquest

Covadonga, Asturias. From July 4 to 6, 2025, the historic Shrine of Covadonga will once again become the epicenter of youthful faith with the celebration of the Second Eucharistic and Marian Youth Day (YEMJ’25). This gathering, born as an echo of the National Eucharistic Revival in the United States, seeks to combat growing secularization and rekindle in young people between the ages of 14 and 30 faith in the real presence of Jesus Christ in the Eucharist, hand in hand with the Blessed Virgin Mary.
WYD is a powerful response to the troubling reality of the lack of faith in the Eucharist, offering a space for worship, catechesis, music, evangelization workshops, and testimonies that seek a spiritual rebirth in young souls. As John Paul II affirmed, Covadonga is “the maternal womb and cradle of faith and Christian life,” an ideal place to wage this new battle for the faith of Spanish youth.
A Program Full of Transformative Experiences
The event will open on Friday, July 4, with the solemn entrance of the relic of the heart of Carlo Acutis, the “Millennial Saint” who will be canonized on September 7. This relic will be available for veneration and will accompany several key events.
The weekend will be filled with moments of deep spirituality and formation:
- Apparition of the Eucharistic Miracle: On Saturday, July 5, there will be lauds and prayer with the Eucharistic Miracle/Prodigy of the DANA of Paiporta, presented by Father Salvador Romero, parish priest of Paiporta. This miracle, which Carlo Acutis studied and disseminated, confirms the truth of faith in the real presence of Christ in the Eucharist.
- Talks and Workshops: Various presentations will be offered, such as “The Eucharistic Legacy of Carlo Acutis” by Friar Marco Gaballo, and simultaneous workshops on topics such as “Cinema, Faith, and Youth,” “Science and Eucharistic Miracles,” “Being an Apostle or a Martyr,” “I Will Bring Peace to Your Family,” “Discernment of Spirits,” and “Who is Jesus of Nazareth?”
- Continuous Adoration: The Blessed Sacrament will remain exposed for permanent adoration by the faithful in the Adoration Chapel, with service throughout Saturday night. Priests will be available for confessions.
- YEMJ Festival 2025: On Friday night, the festival will feature the world premiere of the musical “A Famous Nun,” about the life of Clare Crockett, a work by and for young people.
- Mass and Processions: Masses will be celebrated, presided over by bishops such as Juan Carlos Elizalde (Bishop of Vitoria) and Jesús Sanz Montes (Archbishop of Oviedo). Eucharistic processions and the Holy Rosary will also be held.
Jubilee of Hope in Covadonga
WYD 2025 offers a unique opportunity to gain the plenary indulgence for the Jubilee of Hope. The Basilica of Our Lady of Covadonga has been designated as one of the jubilee churches where the faithful who cannot make the pilgrimage to Rome can experience the jubilee.
This event is organized by the association “En Marcha JEMJ,” a group of committed lay people seeking to respond to the crisis of Eucharistic faith. The main events will be broadcast through the event’s digital channels, allowing young people from around the world to participate.
WYD is not just a meeting; it is an “immense grace of God” that seeks to transform lives and be a starting point for a new life in Jesus Christ, as demonstrated by the first edition in 2024, which brought together more than 1,600 young people and produced significant spiritual fruits.
