Farewell ceremony from Hungary at the Ferenc Liszt International Airport in Budapest
At the end of the meeting with the world of university and culture at the Péter Pázmány Catholic University, the Holy Father Francis transferred to the Ferenc Liszt International Airport in Budapest for the farewell ceremony from Hungary.
Upon his arrival, the Pope was welcomed by the President of the Republic, H.E. Mrs. Katalin Novák, at the foot of the plane. Then, after the greetings of the respective Delegations and local Followers, Pope Francis boarded a neo/ITA Airways A320 and departed for his return to Italy.
The plane carrying the Holy Father on his return from the Apostolic Journey to Hungary took off from Budapest’s Ferenc Liszt International Airport at 6:08pm and landed at Rome’s Leonardo da Vinci Fiumicino International Airport at 7:25pm.
Telegram to the President of the Republic of Hungary
Immediately after his departure by air from Budapest, the Holy Father Francis sent the following telegram to the President of the Republic, H.E. Mrs Katalin Novák:
