BAHRAIN, IMPAGLIAZZO (SANT’EGIDIO): “RELIGIOUS LEADERS SHOULD SHOW PEOPLES PATHS OF CHANGE IN THE FACE OF THE ENVIRONMENTAL CRISIS”

The President of the Community of Sant’Egidio Marco Impagliazzo spoke today at the “Bahrain Forum for Dialogue: East and West for Human Coexistence”, which will end tomorrow with a speech by Pope Francis. “In the face of climate change and the global food crisis, religious leaders should be more sensitive to the challenges facing peoples,” Impagliazzo said. Recalling the path of dialogue and friendship between believers of different religions from the historic prayer for peace in Assisi in 1986 to the recent meeting “The Cry for Peace” with Pope Francis at the Colosseum, the Sant’Egidio president noted: “The example and the word of religious leaders must be clear, coherent and they must be able to imagine those paths of change that are still lacking in our world and that often precede, in vision, the policies of governments”.
