Pope Francis will travel to Kazakhstan from 13-15 September to attend the 7th Congress of World and Traditional Religions.

The Holy See Press Office has released the logo and motto for the Pope’s visit to Kazakhstan.

Logo and motto

The logo features a dove with an olive branch. The wings are represented by two hands joined to symbolize those of the messengers of peace and unity.

The heart, inside the wings, represents love, the fruit of mutual understanding, cooperation and dialogue. The stylized olive branch is depicted with a typical Kazakh ornamental image.

In the background is a ‘shanyrak’ (light blue), an element of the traditional dwelling of the Kazakh people, ‘the yurt’, and, inside, a yellow cross.

The colours used, light blue and yellow, are the same as those of the flag of Kazakhstan; yellow and white are the colours of the Vatican flag. The green of the branch symbolizes hope.

The motto of the journey, “Messengers of peace and unity”, is written at the top in Kazakh and at the bottom in Russian.
