Situation in Ukraine Among Topics Discussed
This morning, Pope Francis received President of the Republic of Slovenia, Mr. Borut Pahor.
According to a statement from the Holy See Press Office, the discussions were cordial and took place in the Secretariat of State in the context of the 30th anniversary of the recognition of Slovenia by the Holy See and the establishment of diplomatic relations.
“Appreciation,” it added, “was expressed for the positive bilateral relations and the ongoing dialogue between the Church and the Slovenian civil authorities.”
Attention, it also noted, “turned to various matters of an international and regional nature, such as regional cooperation, the enlargement of the European Union to the western Balkan countries, and the situation in Ukraine.”
The Slovenian President subsequently met with Vatican Secretary of State, Cardinal Pietro Parolin, accompanied by Vatican Secretary for Relations with States, Archbishop Paul Richard Gallagher.
