Pope Francis has sent a video message to the participants in the “Laudato si'” Inter-University Congress, organized by the National Inter-University Council (CIN), the Council of Rectors of Private Universities (CRUP), and the Argentine Episcopal Conference, to be held online from September 1 to 4, 2021.

The event observes the sixth anniversary of the encyclical Laudato si’. In the brief text, the Holy Father points out that “the Encyclical Laudato si’ is not only a ‘green’ Encyclical, it is also a ‘social’ Encyclical.”

The conferences, talks, and other activities put together under the theme “Caring for the Common Home,” will promote dialogue on some of the main themes of the 2015 encyclical, including fraternity, personal dignity, intercultural dialogue, the environment, and integral development of people, among others.

The Congress will bring together both national and international experts that will share their expertise on the multidimensional complexities of the various themes in order to foster dialogue about joint action in the future.

The Laudato si’ Congress will be accessible virtually to facilitate participation from all over the country.

For more information, you can visit the website, in Spanish, of the Laudato si’ Inter-University Congress.

On May 25, 2021, Pope Francis launched the Laudato Si’ Platform, “a 7-year path in which our communities will make an effort in different ways to be able to be totally sustainable, in the spirit of integral ecology.”

The Laudato Si’ Platform is a program that intends to involve the entire Catholic world, in a process of ecological conversion, in keeping with the spirit of the Laudato Si’ encyclical and of integral ecology.

Video Message of the Holy Father

I greet the members of the Laudato si’ Inter-University Congress, to take place from September 1 to 4, 2021.

I hope that this effort will advance social awareness and consciousness for the care of our common home. The Encyclical Laudato si’ is not only a “green” Encyclical, it is also a “social” Encyclical. I hope that this Congress will help its full scope and all its consequences to be seen. I wish you all the best, God bless you, and do not forget to pray for me. Thank you.
