The Vatican announces a new Apostolic Trip of the Pope to Kazakhstan

The trip was made official after this morning’s meeting with the President of the Republic of Fiji

Accepting the invitation of the civil and ecclesial authorities, Pope Francis will make the announced Apostolic Journey to Kazakhstan from 13 to 15 September this year, visiting the city of Nur-Sultan on the occasion of the VII Congress of Leaders of World and Traditional Religions.

Today, Monday 1 August, the Holy Father Francis received in audience, in the Vatican Apostolic Palace, the President of the Republic of Fiji, His Excellency Mr. Ratu Wiliame Maivalili Katonivere, who subsequently met with His Eminence Cardinal Secretary of State Pietro Parolin, accompanied by His Excellency Archbishop Paul Richard Gallagher, Secretary for Relations with States and International Organizations.


During the cordial discussions in the Secretariat of State, the parties focused on various themes of a regional nature, particularly the urgent issue of climate change, the humanitarian dimension and the need for greater commitment to protecting the common home.

The good relations existing between the Holy See and Fiji, and the contribution of the Catholic Church to the life and development of the country were also evoked.
