Uncomfortable Christians: The world doesn’t need lukewarm Catholics
In times of moral confusion, the greatest act of love is to speak the truth without fear

Today’s world doesn’t need more sympathetic Catholics. Nor more silences disguised as prudence. Nor more speeches that say everything without saying anything. What this thirsty and disoriented world needs are uncomfortable Christians: men and women who aren’t afraid to be salt and light, even if it stings, even if it hurts, even if it bothers.
Because if the Gospel doesn’t make us uncomfortable, we’re probably not preaching the Gospel.
We live surrounded by sugarcoated messages, by Christianitys adapted to algorithms, by neutral homilies, by lives of believers that lack brilliance. Where are the Catholics who dare to live in truth, to love without fear, to make the world uncomfortable through charity? Where are those who are willing to lose followers but not to lose their souls?
Comfort is not Christian.
Jesus was uncomfortable. For the Pharisees, for the powerful, even for his disciples. He was uncomfortable speaking of marriage, chastity, love of the enemy, and service. And he wasn’t afraid to call the religious leaders of his time hypocrites. Nor did he fear the cross. So why do so many Catholics today live their lives trying not to upset others?
There is nothing more revolutionary than living the Gospel fully. But that requires courage. Because the world applauds when you repeat its mantras, but rebels when you speak of truth, beauty, purity, sacrifice, forgiveness, obedience, salvation, the cross, heaven, and hell.
Witnesses, not influencers
We don’t need more Catholic influencers; we need witnesses. Men and women who live what they preach. Who don’t separate faith and life? Who don’t have double standards?, Who let themselves be guided by the Word and not by polls.
The world will not be converted by likes, but by lives dedicated.
Uncomfortable… but for love
Being uncomfortable isn’t being aggressive, moralistic, or fanatical. It’s loving the world so much that we’re not willing to let it sink into lies. It’s having the courage to point to the fire when everyone applauds the bonfire.
It’s speaking the truth with charity, but without compromising. It’s loving Christ more than our reputation. It’s defending life, the family, religious freedom, the sacraments, the Eucharist, without shame.
The world doesn’t need more lukewarm Catholics. It needs saints. It needs martyrs. It needs apostles. It needs people crazy for Christ.
And you, are you going to continue being a comfortable Catholic?
