Italy: Pope Francis visits his family in Piamonte

Tomorrow he will celebrate Mass in the cathedral of Asti

Pope Francis has traveled to the city of Asti, in Piedmont, in northern Italy, to visit his family and celebrate the diocesan World Youth Day in the cathedral tomorrow, Sunday.

In particular, the Holy Father visited his cousin Carla Rabezzana, who turned 90 a few days ago and lives in Portacomaro, and then his cousin Delia Gai, who lives with other relatives in Tigliole.

According to Vatican News, Francis arrived today, November 19, 2022, by helicopter at the Portacomaro Stazione sports field, in the province of Asti, shortly before noon. There he was received by the town’s parish priest, Father Luigino Trinchero.

Later, the Pope went to meet his relatives by car, being greeted by hundreds of people who were on the road.

After lunch with his cousin Carla, who received him with a hug, the Pontiff visited a nursing home for the elderly at 3:30 p.m. His Holiness gave a brief greeting to the guests in the room, spoke to them individually, and gave them his blessing.


Next, the Pope traveled to Tigliole, in the village of San Carlo, to visit his other cousin, Delia.

Tomorrow, at 11 a.m., the first public moment will be held on Piedmontese soil, with a Mass

presided over in Asti Cathedral.
