Camillian Missionaries Continue Their Mobilization
Working Primarily in Stations of Warsaw

Camillian missionaries continue their mobilization in Poland to receive Ukrainian refugees.
“Since the beginning of the war in Ukraine, we have worked mainly in the stations of Warsaw. Together with the social workers, we wait there for the trains that bring refugees from the Polish border”. This was stated by Father Miroslaw, Camillian missionary, Provincial Superior of Poland, during the virtual meeting, held on March 8, 2022, between the partners involved in the emergency intervention program in Ukraine from the Camillian Province of Poland, reported Fides News Agency.
“For the sickest and most disabled refugees, we have organized a temporary accommodation in our homeless center in Warsaw,” continues Fr. Miroslaw.
People who come to our center have the opportunity to take a bath, change their clothes and eat adequate food. Unfortunately, there are still not enough places for this type of temporary accommodation for Ukrainians. We thank God for all the help we have received because without it our ministry would be impossible”.
According to Fides, after an initial assessment aimed at identifying the needs and the number of families to welcome, the Camillians created three programs. The first concerns the opening of their social center for the homeless in Warsaw, where some of the Ukrainian refugees will be housed. The center offers all kinds of assistance: food, non-food, medical, psychosocial. Currently, 30 families have already been accommodated. Another temporary shelter that can accommodate 55 to 60 families is being prepared in Lomianki. This is a former seminary house that needs some minor building and furnishing repairs. In addition, the parish of Tarnowskie Gory organizes psychosocial and language learning activities for refugee children hosted by their relatives in the parish. The ultimate goal of the Camillian mission is to help refugees regain their strength, physically, psychologically, morally, by supporting them towards stability in Poland or Ukraine.
