Francis calls for facilitating faith travel: “Young people and families cannot be left behind”

Pope Francis has delivered a clear and direct message: traveling for reasons of faith cannot become a luxury. In a recent address, the Pontiff asked dioceses, parishes, and Catholic organizations to mobilize so that no young person or family is excluded from the Jubilee 2025 experience due to a lack of financial means.

“Traveling today is very expensive. Some families cannot afford it, and young people who have the desire but lack the resources. Let us help them,” the Holy Father affirmed. His request seeks to awaken the solidarity of the entire Church, encouraging sharing, accompaniment, and making it possible for everyone to participate in the Jubilee events planned in Rome.

The Jubilee, which will take place next year under the theme “Pilgrims of Hope,” aims to be an occasion of encounter, renewal, and shared joy for the faithful around the world. But Francis sought to go beyond spiritual enthusiasm, recalling that material conditions also matter: “It is a great occasion for the Church. We cannot experience it with indifference toward those who cannot afford a plane ticket or a stay in Rome.”

The Pope also made a special appeal to the bishops, encouraging them to organize solidarity initiatives that raise funds or create support networks to facilitate participation. “It is a pastoral opportunity that can renew many lives. And many will be able to experience it if someone reaches out to them,” he concluded.

With this invitation, Francis places practical charity, concrete inclusion, and the desire for a Church where everyone can feel part of, even physically present, an event that is expected to be historic, at the center of the Jubilee.
