Presentation of his Letters of Credence to the Holy Father Francis

This morning, in the Vatican Apostolic Palace, the Holy Father Francis received in audience H.E. Mrs. María Leticia Casati Caballero, Ambassador of Paraguay to the Holy See, on the occasion of the presentation of his Letters of Credence.

Here are the essential biographical notes on the new Ambassador:

She was born on 20th January 1967.
She is married and has three children.
Likewise, she obtained a Licentiate in Law at the National University of Asunción (1990). She has attended specialization courses: – for International Officials at the Italian Society for International Organization (SIOI) (1993); – in International Relations at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Italy, in Florence (1994); – in Gestión y Salvaguarda del Patrimonio Cultural Inmaterial at the Faculty of Economic Sciences at the National University of Cordoba
(Argentina) (2018).

He holds a Master’s Degree in Human Rights and Protection Systems from the University of La Rioja (UNIR), Spain (2021).

She has held the following positions: Official at the Presidency of the Republic, Directorate of State Ceremonial (1989 – 1996); Deputy Director of International Cooperation, MFA (1995 – 1996); Cabinet Assistant, MFA (June – November 1996); Second Secretary, Permanent Mission to the United Nations and Specialized Organizations in Geneva (1996 – 1999); First Secretary, Embassy in the United States of America (1999 – 2004);
Director for Europe, MFA (2007 – 2010); Consular Section Officer, Embassy in Mexico (2010 – 2014); Counsellor, Deputy Permanent Delegate, Permanent Delegation to UNESCO in Paris (July – December 2014); Chargé d’Affaires, Permanent Delegation to UNESCO in Paris (2015 – 2019); Technical Coordinator, Alianza de Cónyuges de Jefes de Estado
y Representantes (ALMA), Advisor to the First Lady. (2019 – 2022).
