A Youtube channel for the Catholic Church in Korea: this is the initiative launched by the “Catholic Peace Broadcasting Corporation” (CPBC) in order to be present on the network and offer the faithful the transmission of daily masses, liturgies, and prayers, but also original content such as talk show programs on topical issues and content provided and produced by the different Catholic organizations, congregations or movements in the country.

As a note from the Communication Office of the Archdiocese of Seoul explains to Fides, in the recent conference of “Signis Asia” (held on the web last May), dedicated to the topic of online TV, the delegates of the Asian Churches of various countries appreciated the potential of Youtube channels as places of production and dissemination of the contents proposed by the Catholic media, therefore as channels of evangelization. Fr. Simon Jung-Rae Cho, Korean Catholic priest and president of the CPBC, said: “Our goal is to spread the Christian message and the voice of the Korean Catholic Church to the world by encouraging online interaction at all levels. We are fully aware of the fact that today communication is mission”.

The Catholic Peace Broadcasting Corporation (CPBC) is a representative mass media network of the Korean Catholic Church, founded in 1988 at the initiative of the Archdiocese of Seoul, with the aim of “bringing the Good News” to Koreans, trying to adapt to new trends in global communication. Expanded until 1995 and always in constant technological update, inserted in the vast global communication arena, it is a multimedia network that manages newspapers, radio, and cable TV. For the Korean faithful it is an absolute reference point for ecclesial communication and evangelization.

The Catholic communications panorama in Seoul also includes the Catholic Times of Korea, a weekly newspaper founded by young lay Catholics in 1927, when Korea was under Japanese domination, with the aim of spreading the teachings of Christ.
