No processions during Holy Week

Cardinal Leopoldo Brenes, archbishop of the Archdiocese of Managua, Nicaragua, reiterated that this Holy Week there would not be processions or events that motivate the agglomeration of people to avoid the contagion of COVID-19

“There should be no processions and events that motivate the crowding of people. We ask for understanding and obedience on this point. They are invited to offer this sacrifice as a sign of unity and in prayer for the end of this pandemic and in suffrage for the victims, ”Brenes said in a statement.

He explained that the health crisis that has been going on since March of last year, when the first positive case of the disease was known, has affected everyone in different ways, which is why they indicate that as “Church we always wish to contribute with these guidelines to the good of the health of our society, even renouncing religious activities that are highly valued in our popular piety ”.

In addition, he called for disciplined maintenance of basic sanitary protocols such as the use of masks, hand washing, the application of alcohol, distancing, and receiving communion in the hand.
