Farewell ceremony from Kazakhstan at the Nur-Sultan International Airport

At the end of the reading of the Final Declaration at the conclusion of the “7th Congress of Leaders of World and Traditional Religions”, the Holy Father Francis transferred by car to the International Airport of Nur-Sultan for the Farewell Ceremony from Kazakhstan.

Upon his arrival, the Pope was welcomed by the President of the Republic of Kazakhstan, H.E. Mr. Kassym-Jomart K. Tokayev, at the entrance to the Presidential Vip Terminal where a brief private meeting took place.

After the Guard of Honour and the greeting of the respective Delegations, the Pope boarded an Ita Airways A330 to return to Italy.

The plane carrying the Holy Father took off from Nur-Sultan International Airport at 5.17pm (1.17pm Rome time).

Arrival at Leonardo da Vinci International Airport in Rome-Fiumicino is scheduled for 8.30 p.m.


 

Telegram to the President of the Republic of Kazakhstan

Immediately after his departure by plane from Nur-Sultan, the Holy Father Francis sent the following telegram to the President of the Republic of Kazakhstan, H.E. Mr. Kassym-Jomart K. Tokayev

AS I DEPART FOR ROME AT THE CONCLUSION OF MY APOSTOLIC JOURNEY TO KAZAKHSTAN, I ONCE AGAIN EXPRESS MY GRATITUDE FOR THE HOSPITALITY EXTENDED TO ME DURING MY STAY IN YOUR COUNTRY, AND I RENEW THE ASSURANCE OF MY PRAYERS FOR YOUR EXCELLENCY AND ALL YOUR FELLOW CITIZENS.
