Annual pilgrimage to commemorate the 573rd anniversary of the birth of Isabel La Católica

Her main objective is to pray to God for the prompt beatification of the Queen of Spain and to promote and propagate her evangelizing heritage in the world

The Enraizados Foundation, which has supported and promoted the cause of the beatification of Isabel la Católica since 2014, has organized, among other commemorative events, its III Pilgrimage to celebrate the birth of the Queen of Spain.

José Castro Velarde, president of the civic entity, recalled the date where Enraizados has dedicated itself, for 10 years, to spreading devotion to the queen: “On April 22 we proudly commemorate the day of Isabel la Católica’s birth. We join the celebration with this III Pilgrimage, but many other events also take place in her memory in the rest of the world. This year we have decided to do the pilgrimage the previous weekend because it falls on a Monday on the 22nd.”

“We will visit very important places in the life of the queen: on Friday the 19th in the afternoon we will go to Medina del Campo, where she died. We will visit (D. m.) the Mota Castle and the Testamentary Palace. The Will of Elizabeth and the Codicil are truly exceptional documents. Wisdom and counsel, gifts of the Holy Spirit, can be seen in its writing.”

The pilgrims will spend Saturday, April 20, in Valladolid, where the spousal union of Isabella and Ferdinand took place and many other vital events of her reign. “In addition, we will have the opportunity to visit the Shrine of the Great Promise and earn the plenary indulgence that this year is granted to its visitors – meeting the conditions established by the Church – for being a jubilee year,” Castro Velarde explained.

“Finally, on Sunday morning the 21st we will visit Tordesillas, both the town and the Houses of the Treaty, so important in the disputes with Portugal, and also the Monastery of Santa Clara. All of this with the help of guides who explain each historical fact to us from a deep love for Spain and our faith.”

The process of beatification of Isabel la Católica, as D. Luis Argüello has pointed out after her visit to Rome, remains open. In this regard, the president of Enraizados emphasizes: “His beatification of her would be an immense gift of blessings because she would remember that politics is the field of the vastest charity, as the Magisterium of the Church has defined it. In the face of partisan and interested struggles, it is necessary to rescue the authentic spirit of service in politics. Beatification would be a moral boost for all politicians to be worthy of the vocation to which God calls them to serve society.”

“Few figures have contributed as much to evangelization as Queen Isabel, reformer of the Church in Spain, along with Cisneros and other figures. She would demonstrate what Grace can do in docile souls despite difficulties.”

“I encourage everyone to attend this III Elizabethan Pilgrimage to demonstrate the great devotion we have for the Queen of Spain. We must recover our History and this is a nice gesture to do so. We cannot complain about the Black Legend if we are not willing to fight it,” concluded the president of the civic entity.
