Celebrations over which the Pope will preside in September and October

Monsignor Diego Ravelli, titular archbishop of Recanati, master of the Pontifical Liturgical Celebrations, published on 29 August the calendar for the months of September and October.

September

From Friday 22 to Saturday 23 September, the Holy Father will make an Apostolic Journey to Marseilles, France, for the conclusion of the “Encounters of the Mediterranean”.

On Saturday 30 September, at 10:00 a.m. in St. Peter’s Basilica, the Ordinary Public Consistory for the creation of new cardinals will take place.


On the same day, at 18:00, Pope Francis will preside over the Ecumenical Prayer Vigil in St. Peter’s Square.

On Wednesday 4 October, the liturgical memorial of St. Francis of Assisi, founder of the Franciscan order and patron saint of Italy, the Pontiff will preside at Holy Mass with the new cardinals and the College of Cardinals in St. Peter’s Square at 9:00 a.m. on the occasion of the opening of the Ordinary General Assembly of the Synod of Bishops.

On 29 October, the 30th Sunday in Ordinary Time, in St. Peter’s Basilica, at 10:00 a.m., the Holy Father will preside at the Holy Mass concluding the Ordinary General Assembly of the Synod of Bishops.
