Year of Prayer in preparation for the Jubilee

To live the “time of grace” until the opening of the Holy Door, Pope Francis asks the faithful to “intensify” prayer. Thus begins this special year in which all dioceses are invited to propose pilgrimages, itineraries or moments of individual or community prayer with the bishops and the faithful

Pope Francis inaugurates the Year of Prayer, “a year dedicated to rediscovering the great value and absolute necessity of prayer.”

Prayer in personal life, in the life of the Church, prayer in the world

Live a time of grace

The Pontiff’s announcement occurred at the end of the Angelus this Sunday, January 21, V Sunday of the Word of God. After the catechesis, the Pope reminded the 20,000 faithful present in St. Peter’s Square that the coming months will lead us to the opening of the Holy Door with which we will begin the Jubilee.

I ask you to intensify your prayer to live this time of grace

Initiatives in the dioceses of the world

To this end, Pope Francis begins this special year – which follows the one dedicated to reflecting on the documents and studying the fruits of the Second Vatican Council – during which work will be done in dioceses around the world to rediscover the centrality of prayer.

In preparation for the Holy Year 2025, dioceses are invited to promote moments of individual and community prayer. “Pilgrimages of prayer” towards the Jubilee or itineraries of prayer schools with monthly or weekly stages, presided over by bishops, are proposed, in which the entire People of God is involved.

A series of “Notes” from the Dicastery for Evangelization

To live fully this year, the Dicastery for Evangelization will publish a series of “Notes on Prayer”, to put the deep relationship with the Lord at the center again, through the multiple forms of prayer contemplated in the rich Catholic tradition.
